Zinc Ingot
- Zinc (Lat. Zinkum, Eng. Zinc, Alm. Zink) is a bluish to light grey, brittle metal. It is in the group of transition elements in the periodic table of elements. Its low boiling temperature is remarkable. This value is a decisive factor especially in pyrometallurgical metal production. Hard and brittle in cast form. Formable at 120 °C. It is more negative than iron in the electrochemical potential array. Zinc thus finds an important use as an anode in cathodic corrosion protection. Galvanising is one such application.
